I am a Canadian citizen and the last time I was to the United States was about 2 years ago.
When I went to the airport, I thought to myself that I must have been at a job interview for a foreign company.
I had no idea that I would be getting a US passport test for this reason.
As I walked into the store, I was greeted by a woman in a white lab coat who told me that I needed to show my passport for a US citizen to see.
I was confused, I didn’t know what to say.
I asked her if she could tell me the questions.
She said, “I can tell you the answers to most of them.”
I was taken aback, what is that?
She explained to me that there were 2 options for me.
Either I have a passport that is expired, I have to wait for a few months or I can buy a new passport, this was what I was told to do.
I didn the know which one I was going to choose.
I got my new passport and my visa came through.
I thought that it was an amazing experience.
However, the fact is that, as soon as I received the US citizenship certificate, my passport was lost, and it was at my feet for only 24 hours.
What did I do?
I decided to look up my options online, and the only option I found was to go to a local Walgreen.
I checked out the price, and I decided that it would be about $80 for the test, and then it was on to the actual testing.
The price was a little steep for what I paid, but it was worth it, because my US passport was finally valid.
I am still in disbelief that I could be an American citizen and still be rejected for the citizenship test, but I am glad that I did it.
