SAN FRANCISCO (AP) A team of researchers says it has created the first computer-generated test for the effects of concussions in NFL games.
The team, known as PSA Test, says its tests are accurate and painless and can be used to assess the long-term effects of head trauma and concussions on the brain.
It has a computer-based version of the test, which is not used in the NFL.PSA has already tested some players with concussions and says it’s not just a test of brain injury but also the effects on the body, too.
It says it tested 10 former NFL players for a possible concussion and found one had brain damage and one had neurological damage.
The company says it doesn’t test for everything that can happen in the brain, but the tests are more reliable than others, like a blood test.
