The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on Monday announced that it will allow some speed-test venues to accept a driver’s license in lieu of a license.
The NHTSA said that the changes were made to address complaints from drivers who had difficulty completing a speeding test.
The new rule will allow the tests to be conducted at a licensed facility.
Previously, it was only allowed at licensed locations.
The move comes after NHT, which has been investigating how to increase testing speed, has received reports of drivers not completing a test.
NHT has said that it hopes to roll out the changes to all states by 2020.
The agency has also been working on a “speed test driver” program to train drivers.
